The Peninsula Arts Inc. Charitable Trust was set up in 2012 following the success of the first Harbourview Sculpture Trail. Peninsula Arts Inc (PAI) developed the Harbourview Sculpture Trail into an exciting and popular biennial event on the Auckland arts calendar. The aim was to the event as a platform to further develop and enrich the local arts community of the Peninsula.

2014 Harbourview Sculpture Trail, 50 artists from throughout New Zealand, as well as children from the local schools were selected to exhibit original and site-specific sculpture at Danica Pond. During the 23 days of the 2016 Harbourview Sculpture Trail, just over 9,000 visitors attended the event to view artworks by 40 New Zealand and international artists and 7 local schools.

As well as running three very successful Sculpture Trails over 6 years, Peninsula Arts Inc. supported local initiatives such as the Pop-Up Collective, The Photo Bomb event, Fly Your Flag and the Te Atatū Spring Festival to name but a few.

Despite the success of the event, after the 2016 Harbourview Sculpture Trail a tough decision was made to wrap up the event. Albeit this was a tough decision, it also led to the creation of Toi Te Atatū; which can now support community projects for the years to come.

Toi Te Atatū is a tribute and a legacy to all those who assisted, created, volunteered, attended, and supported both Peninsula Arts and the Harbourview Sculpture Trail.
